Visiting Teaching Handout- January 2015

I'm addicted to making a handout for each visiting teaching message. The thoughts expressed are so relevant and moving I just have to add a photo and a few embellishments.  I hope you use and enjoy this months message!

Love you lots and hope your New Year is filled with faith, family, friends, and  LOVE!

I was not available to create a November bookmark...in the hospital.  I'm much better now and here is the bookmark for December.

Here is the message from the website.

A Savior Is Born
A Savior Is Born, by Joseph Brickey
“The Savior is the source of true peace,” said Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. “Even with the trials of life, because of the Savior’s Atonement and His grace, righteous living will be rewarded with personal peace.”1 Understanding that Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace can help us find inner peace and increase our faith in Him.
Jesus Christ said: “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Bearing testimony of that truth, Linda S. Reeves, second counselor in the Relief Society general presidency, said: “The Lord has been merciful to me and has helped make my burdens light. He has helped me to feel great peace.”2
Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught: “The ideal place for … peace is within the walls of our own homes, where we have done all we can to make the Lord Jesus Christ the centerpiece.”3

From the Scriptures

Isaiah prophesied of the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace (seeIsaiah 9:6). In the Americas, Samuel the Lamanite told of signs that would accompany Christ’s birth five years later (see Helaman 14:3, 5). As the prophesied day approached, unbelievers threatened to execute all the Christians if these signs did not occur. The prophet Nephi “cried mightily unto the Lord all that day; and behold, the voice of the Lord came unto him, saying: … On the morrow come I into the world” (3 Nephi 1:12–13). The signs appeared, and with the birth of Christ, “the people began again to have peace in the land” (verse 23).
In Bethlehem, Mary “brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger” (Luke 2:7).

September 2104 Visiting Teaching Bookmark

The message for September's Visiting Teaching is:
The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Comforter.

President Thomas S. Monson said: "Our knowledge of the gospel and our love of our Heavenly Father and of our Savior will comfort and sustain us and bring joy to our hearts as we walk uprightly and keep the commandments. THERE WILL BE NOTHING IN THIS WORLD THAT CAN DEFEAT US."

Listen to President Henry B. Ering's talk on "A Promise of Comfort." It takes only one minute and will really give you hope when you feel alone or in need of peace and comfort.

The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Messiah

I am thankful for the Messiah. I love to sing of Him, pray to Him, rely on Him and be forgiven, loved, and strengthen by Him.
My hope is that I may improve each day and become more like Him and return to Him with fewer regrets as I employ the atonement in my life.

Why is it important to understand the Savior's role as the Messiah?

Advocate - July Visiting Teaching Handout

From the lesson:
"Listen to (Jesus Christ) who is the advocate with the Father, who is pleading your cause before him-
"Saying: Father, behold the suffering and death of him who did no sin, in whom thou wast well pleased; behold the blood of thy Son which was shed, the blood of him whom thou gavest that thyself might be glorified;
"Wherefore, Father, spare these my brethren that believe on my name, that they may come unto me and have everlasting life." (D&C 45:3-5)

Here is a link to D. Todd Christofferson 1st talk as an Apostle of the Lord in 1993. Listen carefully to how he feels about our Advocate, Jesus Christ.  His words convey my meaning as well.

Now, here is a new Visiting Teaching bookmark for July:  The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Advocate.
I pray for you and your loved ones to take advantage of God's love and extend mercy and forgiveness to each other. Love, Pat

June 2014 Visiting Teaching Handout

I hope June is a beautiful spring month for you and that you find time to minister to others!

May 2013 Ensign Magazine: "Your Sacred Duty to Minister" by David L. Beck

Do you know what it means to minister?

As you love His children, Heavenly Father will guide you, and angels will assist you. You will be given power to bless lives and rescue souls. Jesus Christ is your example. He “came not to be ministered unto, but to minister.” Matthew 20:27-28

To minister means to love and care for others. It means to attend to their physical and spiritual needs. Put simply, it means to do what the Savior would do if He were here.

May 2014 Vising Teaching Handout

PRESIDENT DIETER F. UCHTDORF gave these remarks in April Conference at the Priesthood session.
I hope that each of you who listen to his talk or read his words will add your light to the whole world and be a witness in your own special way and be found "not sleeping" but awake with the love of God and Christ.

Visiting Teaching Handout- April 2014

The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Savior and Redeemer

During this Easter month I love to read the New Testament.  I am so grateful for ALL the gifts that Father in Heaven has given me. The greatest of these gifts is MY savior and redeemer, Jesus Christ!  I need the atonement everyday. My life is so much happier and meaningful with Christ in it!
Here is the Bookmark for April  visiting teaching.
Have a happy Easter and follow the links for art and music of Christ.

March 2014 Visiting Teaching Handout-The Light of the World

The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ: Light of the World

As we come to understand that Jesus Christ is the Light of the World, we will increase our faith in Him and become a light to others. Christ testified of His role as “the true light that lighteth every man [and woman] that cometh into the world” (D&C 93:2) and asked that we “hold up [His] light that it may shine unto the world” (3 Nephi 18:24). Our prophets have also testified of the Light of Christ. President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency, said: “Each time you choose to try to live more like the Savior, you will have your testimony strengthened. You will come in time to know for yourself that He is the Light of the World. . . . You will reflect to others the Light of Christ in your life.”  Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said of our being a light to the world: “We need to protect our families and be at the forefront together with all people of goodwill in doing everything we can to preserve light, hope, and morality in our communities.”

The Divine Mission of Jesus Christ:Good Shepherd

Jesus Christ is our good shepherd, he loves us more than we can even comprehend.
At times we need his comfort in our lives. He will give us that comfort and peace!
Our loving shepherd will not leave us if we seek Him!
As I hum a few bars of the hymn, "Dear to The Heart of The Shepherd," I am renewed and feel His peace.
I hope you enjoy this choir singing the hymn and be renewed too.
You may also print and use the Visiting Teaching bookmark.
